President Donald Trump is threatening to declare a new national emergency and once again federalize DC’s Metropolitan Police Department unless Mayor Muriel Bowser allows officers to fully cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In a late-night post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that the federal surge since mid-August had transformed DC from a “complete criminal mess” into one of the world’s safest cities with packed restaurants, stores and businesses and “virtually NO CRIME.”

“It has been a beautiful thing to watch but, now, under pressure from the Radical Left Democrats, Mayor Muriel Bowser, who has presided over this violent criminal takeover of our Capital for years, has informed the Federal Government that the Metropolitan Police Department will no longer cooperate with ICE in removing and relocating dangerous illegal aliens,” Trump posted. “If I allowed this to happen, CRIME would come roaring back.”
