Booz Allen Hamilton has been selected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Weather Service to build a cloud-based data platform to power the nation’s weather forecasting tools and services.
“Building the systems that power our nation’s weather forecasting is a mission of national importance,” said Katie Hermosilla, executive vice president at Booz Allen. “This work will accelerate NWS’s ability to deliver faster, more actionable environmental intelligence that protects communities, infrastructure, and economic activity across the United States.”
The work supports the NWS Central Integrated Real-Time Repository for Unified Services, or NWS CIRRUS, an initiative to transform how weather data is processed, analyzed and delivered using cloud technology, advanced data engineering and AI.
